Effects of Active Galactic Nucleus Feedback on Cold Gas Depletion and Quenching of Central Galaxies

We investigate the influence of active galactic nucleus (AGN) feedback on galaxy cold gas content and its connection to quenching in three hydrodynamical simulations Illustris, IllustrisTNG SIMBA. By comparing observed atomic molecular neutral hydrogen measurements for central galaxies, we find that Illustris over-predicts masses star-forming galaxies significantly under-predicts them quenched galaxies. performs better this comparison than but retain too much compared with observations. SIMBA shows good agreement observations, by depleting global reservoir discrepancies are caused weak kinetic AGN only redistributes from inner disks outer regions reduces densities. It agrees observations when within stellar disk is considered infer star formation rates. From dependences black hole mass Eddington ratio, cumulative energy release during growth dominant reason depletion thus quenching. further measure surface density 1 kpc ($\Sigma_1$) high-resolution run a tight correlation between $\Sigma_1$ mass. suggests decreasing trend also reflection growth.
